ABOUT ME

While staring at a blank page on my laptop, the cursor continues to blink as I whisper to myself, “Erin, what are you waiting for? What’s the big deal? Just type already!”  Writing my author bio should not be a difficult task. It’s just a few lines about myself. How hard can it be?

What makes me uneasy about this process is knowing the significance of life summed up in a few short lines stating credentials, awards, and achievements.  All the while, we ignore the personal and real-life details of someone.  I could tell you the top-line information about me. That’s the easy part.  I grew up an aspiring ballerina, an Advertising/Public Relations major, an MBA achiever, a marketing executive, and now a children’s author. I have always operated in a world of creativity, ambition, and focus. I currently live in Scottsdale, Arizona, with my husband and two boys. We also have one sweet “pup pup,” Wiley.

But that doesn't give you much insight into me. That doesn't tell you that I broke my back at the young age of 22 and was half an inch away from being paralyzed. You probably didn’t know I spent a summer working as a lifeguard at the coolest water park,  and for absolutely no reason at all, my kids endearingly have nicknamed me “Ernie.”  See what I mean?

So, with that in mind, here is my bio — sort of.

TWENTY-FIVE THINGS YOU
DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME

  1. My favorite emoji is the Zany Face.
  2. I enjoy hayrides and football games.
  3. In the winter, you can find me on the mountain enjoying snowboarding with my two boys.
  4. In the summer, at the lake cooling off from the hot Arizona desert temps.
  5. Sweets are my thing! Krispy Kreme Donuts, Confetti Cake, Oreo Ice Cream... the list is endless.
  6. I am at the GYM a lot! (see above).
  7. I enjoy both the beach and the mountains (it's the Gemini in me).
  8. In my camera roll you’ll find photos of the moon and Arizona sunsets. I am often in awe of their beauty.
  9. I follow the weather all over the US (I should have been a meteorologist).
  10. Instead I became a marketing professional and now author.
  11. I love New York City & Broadway shows.
  12. I grew up in the theater, spent nine years dancing in the Nutcracker, and to this day can hum along to any song from the great composer with ease.
  13. I enjoy naps and rainy/snowy days with no plans.
  14. My favorite times of year are Christmas and my Birthday.
  15. I am the only child, enough said!
  16. My favorite punctuation mark is the exclamation point!
  17. I was a horrible math student, but a great history student.
  18. I share the same birthday as the famous Russian princess, Anastasia Romanova.
  19. I have my own collection of young children’s picture story books. My favorites include “What Do You Do with an Idea?” by Kobi Yamada and “Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast” by Josh Funk.
  20. Beloved movies from my childhood include, The Wizard of Oz & Alice in Wonderland.
  21. My favorite animal is the Flamingo. How do they sleep standing on just one leg?
  22. Online shopping addict. (Yep, I admit it!)

My wish for all children; To understand the strength that can be found in self-confidence. To push away self-doubt and not let it hold them back. Self-confidence comes from knowing you have the ability,  to succeed. Without it, you're less likely to try new things, seize opportunities, take risks, or go for the things you really want in life.”
